1. In what way does Charles Brockden Brown’s Wieland represent the problem of seduction and manipulation through rhetoric and speech?
2. Please discuss the ‘advertisement’ which Brown published with his novel -  in what way does Brown discuss the notion of an American literature and in what way does his discussion rely on the difference between American and European conditions of experience?
