Enlightenment to Romanticism 8

Published by Peter Schneck

Two very short questions concerning our most recent session:

  1. In what way does Charles Brockden Brown’s Wieland represent the problem of seduction and manipulation through rhetoric and speech?
  2. Please discuss the ‘advertisement’ which Brown published with his novel -  in what way does Brown discuss the notion of an American literature and in what way does his discussion rely on the difference between American and European conditions of experience?

If you have questions, please let me know – and enjoy!
